There is a lot that we don’t know about our plan, so let’s start with what we do know: After getting married in October in Maui, we decided to take a trip around the world from our home in Seattle. We will set out in February and begin with Central and South America, continuing from continent to continent while trying to chase good weather around the globe. We will try to focus on experiences that may not be possible or authentic in the future (such as seeing the cloud forests of Costa Rica, snorkeling the Great Barrier Reef, or visiting recently-opened countries like Myanmar or Cuba), while taking a slow enough pace to experience the daily life around us. Although we have a loose plan of where our path may take us, we haven’t really committed beyond more than a few weeks and expect to make significant changes as we learn about the world and about ourselves. At the start, we envision our trip looking something like this:
